Put the kettle on . . . .
Chinking of china, colours so bright
Roses and violets oh what a sight,
Put on the kettle warm up the pot
Spoon out the leaves, for tea nice and hot.
Set the table with crockery pure white
Roses and violets oh what a sight
Sweet scented flowers picked freshly today
When wandering through the fields of sweet hay.
Polish cutlery of silver, engraved with a crest
Tea for the family must use the best
Roses and violets oh what a sight
Light up the taper, for candles to light.
Set out the cakes of soft pinks and greens
Sparkles and swirls the best ever seen
Roses and violets oh what a sight
Tea, cakes and family just seem so right.
Put on your dress, of velvet and lace
Rouge on your cheeks,a smile on your face
Open the door now everything's right
Roses and violets oh what a sight
